Interlude Three: Divine Attrition

“I have a problem,” Divinity announced. Vaguely feminine, with a sleek alabaster body, a corona of purifying light glowed from the deity.

The splintered congregation, standing in clusters aligned with developing factions, turned to look at the god.

“The Monster god is directing her efforts primarily at my people. Tens of thousands have been murdered. I would like to entreat for intervention.”

“Intervention?” Shadow replied with a sneer. “If we should be doing anything, it should be questioning this one about his rogue scion.” He pointed at Inspiration, who was frowning as he studied the Great Arbiter.

“She’s removing her primary rival and the biggest threat to her rule,” Divinity continued. “If we allow this, she will threaten more than balance. She’ll reshape the new world.”

Inspiration shook himself, speaking up. “She’s corrupting Arbiters. Ty’s just reported in. She’s acting against all treaties and pacts, not just the Resonance.” He gestured and images from Hagemi’s interaction appeared in the air, above the Great Arbiter.

Awed gasps rose from most of the gods.

“So what?” Shadow screamed, pointing at the image. “What do you think he is doing? Inspiration indicts the Monster god while his very scion rips his own Arbiter apart to perform forbidden rituals!”

Shouts and accusations tore through the congregation, ruining any opportunity for the gods to intervene against their wayward member.

After hours of arguing and debates, the majority decided to intervene. It wasn’t against the Monster god.
